Michael Holden FRPharmS FRSPH is the Principal Associate supported by a network of like minded colleagues.
Michael read pharmacy at Portsmouth School of Pharmacy and completed his pre-registration year in Lancashire, England. Following a number of years in various professional and managerial positions to a senior level within a national pharmacy group, he established his own community pharmacy group in Hampshire, England.
In 2005 Michael was appointed Chief Officer of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Pharmaceutical Committee where he developed a range of innovative services on behalf of over 300 community pharmacy contractors. He became the Chief Executive of the National Pharmacy Association from January 2011 to October 2014 where he led the development of the organisation, supported the establishment of Pharmacy Voice and sat on a number of key health, public health and regulatory committees.
In December 2014 Michael established MH Associates and operates as a consultant working with the pharmacy profession, government bodies and the pharmaceutical industry across the world. In February 2016 MH Associates in collaboration with The Tipping Point Limited, established Pharmacy Complete. Michael is also a member of the Davie-Ratnoff-MacFarlane Foundation which promotes and supports the development of pharmaceutical care globally.
Michael has a passion and heritage for the expansion of innovative community pharmacy services and developing the evidence base for pharmacy interventions to optimise the use of medicines and improve the public's health and wellbeing and is one of the primary drivers behind the development, implementation and roll out of the Healthy Living Pharmacy initiative. He is an active advocate of an extended role for the profession and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences. Michael was honoured as a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain in March 2011 and became a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health in 2017.
